The “AcademiCity” Project: A Unique Learning Experience in Jerusalem
AcademiCity is a unique initiative founded by the Jerusalem Development Authority in cooperation with the Municipality of Jerusalem and the JIIS. The initiative is intended to foster a unique learning experience in Jerusalem, based on cooperation among the various academic institutions in the city as well as between these institutions and the city itself.

Breaking down the barriers to peace
“The untimely death of Prof Yaacov Bar-Siman-Tov, our colleague, teacher and dear friend, has left many of us with a sense of having been orphaned, and it is leaving a gaping hole,” says Dr. Kobi Michael, who worked with Barsi on numerous projects over the years. Here he recalls their collaboration on a volume edited by Barsi, Barriers to Peace in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, which was published in 2010 by JIIS and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

New: Research Project on the topic of Arab neighborhoods in East Jerusalem
The Arab neighborhoods of East Jerusalem are in a way "Terra incognita" to the public but also to the government authorities. This is true despite the fact that Jerusalem holds a central place in the conflict. This new research project deals with a broad range of aspects related to the Arab neighborhoods in East Jerusalem and seeks to expose the social, economic and political characteristics in these areas, and to draw an overview regarding the population's needs and the main obstacles the inhabitants are faced with daily.

Urban Sustainability 2030
The JIIS recently received a generous grant to expand its research on the topic of sustainability. The "Urban Sustainability 2030" project will focus on promoting sustainable urban lifestyles. The project will particularly focus on sustainable consumption, innovation and resilience with the aim of creating a new policy framework and seek where, whether and how lifestyles could undergo transformation.
